Cigarillo means little cigar in Spanish, and is a tobacco filled cigar that is wrapped in a tobacco leaf, but is sized considerably smaller than the typical cigar. My favorite little cigars are Al Capone Cigars. They have a great flavor and are not too harsh. Because cigarillos are so small, some are even smaller than a standard cigarette, the cigarillo can be enjoyed in a slightly different way than the larger cigars. I think that the cigarillo is a little easier to smoke because the tip is already removed, so no cutting is necessary and they are so small that I can enjoy them anywhere I go. At least where smoking is allowed. I began smoking cigarillos about 5 years ago. I was a cigarette smoker and one day, I just wanted to try something new. I tried other cigarillos but have found that my favorite are the Capones. When I talk with people about them, some who have tried them really like them, but some also really dislike them. I am not sure if I just get a different flavor than some of my friends because I have never thought they tasted stale or bad. I have tried a larger size cigar as well, but they seem to last to long for me. I like to smoke on my way to work, or after dinner and having a whole cigar seems to be a bit much for me. Although the flavor is great, I don’t have time to smoke on one cigar for an hour. Cigarettes don’t have the great flavor that the Al Capone Cigars have, and I wouldn’t think of switching back to them ever.
My Favorite Cigarillo’s
April 30th, 2010What has happened to the Jamaican Stogie?
April 2nd, 2010I have smoked Macanudo Cigars for years now, and read that they came from Jamaica. That appeared unusual becauce I can’t say I have heard much about Jamaican tobacco. Allegedly, Cuban immigrants brought tobacco seeds to Jamaica, as they did every where else they moved to. But due to hurricanes, work issues and war, it’s been a troublesome road for the Jamaican tobacco plant. Macanudo, which came from Jamaica is now home made by General Cigar Company, located in Connecticut. They create quality, high end, premium cigars, including Macanudo. They use their own Connecticut shade wrappers, and various tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Africa for the filler and binder. These are my favourite cigars for lots of reasons, I love the sweet but spicy flavor. They are strong, but not overwhelming. I can smoke once per day and be satisfied. There are just a few known Jamaican cigars around nowadays, and they appear tough to come by. If the others taste as well as a Macanudo, I may switch, except for now I’m sticking to what I adore.
Simple way to keep your Stogie in Ideal Condition
March 17th, 2010For people who smoke cigars, it can become something of a preoccupation. As time passes, cigar smokers regularly develop exact rituals that they adhere to each time they smoke a stogie, and can be quite pedantic about how they store their smokes. If you are not familiar with this obsession of smoking the ‘perfect’ cigar, then you also probably don’t understand the necessity for a cigar humidor. The basic purpose of a cigar humidor is to both store and protect cigars. Many cigar fans believe that cigars have to be stored at a particular temperature so as to keep their top flavour. That’s’s exactly what the cigar humidor does – maintains a steady temperature. You do not have to store machine made cigars like your Black and Milds in a humidor. Opinions alter, but it’s’s generally believed that the range between 68 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit is ideal for cigars. The humidity also needs to be controlled, and kept at a level preferrably 70-72% humidity. Cigar fans have long discussed about the ideal temperature required for the storing of cigars. Some demand that even a slight fluctuation in temperature can prove deleterious to the flavour of their cigars, and insist on a temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Others are a touch more flexible and allow a slight amount of temperature fluctuation. Generally they all agree that the lower the temperature, the quicker the cigar will age, which may then result in a reduction in flavour. If you want to maintain the flavour, integrity and color of your fave smokes, then a cigar humidor is critical. What features should you look for when buying a cigar humidor? The one essential feature is that it must be fully closed once the lid is shut. If the lid isn’t snug and secure, then it’s possible that the temperature or humidity within will fluctuate. A lid that’s’s tight also inhibits any other outside elements contaminating the cigars, and inhibits any moisture exchange. It’s beneficial if the inside of the cigar humidor is smooth and seamless, to stop snagging of cigars ( or fingers ). It’s also useful to have fittings inside the humidor to help in the keeping of the smokes.
What is the Process for Making a Premium Cigar
February 19th, 2010The Best cigars are still hand-made. An experienced cigar-roller can produce tons of very good, nearly identical, cigars a day. The rollers keep the tobacco moist especially the wrapper and use specifically designed crescent-shaped knives, called chavetas, to form the filler and wrapper leaves quickly and exactingly. Once rolled, the cigars are kept in wooden forms as they dry, in which their uncapped ends are cut to a uniform size. From this stage, the cigar is a complete product that may be “laid down” and aged for decades if kept as near to 21C ( 70F ), and 70% relative humidity, as the environment will allow. Once miami suites cigars have been bought, proper storage is generally accomplished by keeping the cigars in a specialized wooden box, or humidor, where conditions can be thoroughly controlled for long periods of time. Even if a cigar dries, it can be successfully re-humidified as long as it has not been handled carelessly and done so gradually. If you lose the original tobacco oils, it will seriously affect the taste.
Only a Couple Days till the Smoking Restriction
December 29th, 2009So, my town has chosen a smoking ban for all public facilities, with only a short list exceptions. I am so sick and tired of my human rights dwindling down, I am tired. I can’t apprehend the reason non-smokers have such a sharp personal opinion on what us smokers want to do. Everyone knows that smoking is harmful, but I made a conscience decision when I began smoking, alert to the fact it was unhealthy. Just because non-smokers want me to cease, doesn’t mean that it will happen. Smoking in restaurants has been a privilage, but most restaurants include a approved smoking room. If non-smokers don’t want to inhale the smoke, don’t sit in the smoking room, you are not unwilling made to sit in the smoking section. And as well as the workers of these bars that comment they are tortured by second hand smoke, I don’t believe it. I worked in the service industry for over 10 years, and I know that the majority of thefellow workers were smokers. Interacting with the public, always, drives you to smoke. Personally, I have never heard one non-smoking co-worker ever protest about cigarette smoke while at work in the smoking room. Putting a smoking prohibition in restaurants and bars, can only save me money, for I won’t eat out after the January 1st.
All I want for the holiday: Smokes!
December 18th, 2009I have decided this christmas to beg for clear-cut gifts that my wife can pick up comfortably for me. My number one gift, as always, is my favored cigar from makers-mark-cigars.com. She won’t even have to depart from our home, she can go on the web (I have all my favorites sites saved) and place the order there. As far as other gifts, she can head over to the closest shop and pick out a gift. She argues every holiday that I am totally difficult guy to buy for. But we have been married for over 15 years! And if she doesn’t realize the things I want by now, I give up. I constantly say every December, “get me cigars”, I puff on 1 or 2 per day, and that adds up. I bought a humidor for keeping my cigars, “what’s that for?” my wife askes. Well my love, it’s to keep my stogies lively. So, if you get me smokes for christmas I can keep them in that for a few months and pull a stogie when I am wanting to enjoy one. Although I have to say, I was lucky last year, my wife gave me a lighter that was ingraved with my initials. The prior year, she bought me a fishing pole, because I said I wanted to go fishing again someday. Well, I went fishing only once in two years, but guess what, I still smoke 1-2 cigars a day. In the end what do I want for christmas this year? I want Cigars, and whatever else would just be an added delight.

Cigars: Information for the average stogie smoker
November 18th, 2009The simplest method of identifying cigars is by the method in which they are made. Cigars are either rolled by hand, or manufactured by machines. The newer smoker may be tempted to start by trying those machine made brands sold in Drug Stores, such as Garcia Vega. However, the Beginner should consider spending a few more pennies and moving up to hand rolled cigars, which are sold on the web or at a local smokeshop.
Aficiando Vs Connoisseurs
TypicalIndividual cigar smokers have their own unique tastes, and have their own individual budget. Those who enjoy smoking multiple cigars per day may need an “everyday” cigar that is inexpensive. Therefore, the taste and cost of machine made cigars can be very handsome to some smokers. However, to the new smoker or experienced connoisseurs, the ones who enjoy an occasional cigar as a special treat, the hand rolled cigar is worth every cent.
